Here and There

 Life after Celebration Week. *Sigh*
Well, actually, April is just busy, so it's still been fun. The boys are already planning next year's birthday party, so that won't get old, or anything.

So, here are some things keeping up occupied post-birthdays.

Mother/Son Cowboy Dinner at church. Always fun. It is for 3-5 year old boys, so Simon was a first-timer.

Sooooo, you may notice my kids' western wear is a little lacking in authenticity. Henson's comment after getting dressed to go, "Cowboys wear a belt. Here is my belt." Well, ok then.
Grammie also joined in this year.

My Mamaw turned 80 (actually part of Celebration Week - the 7th)! My mom's sisters were able to come in to celebrate on Easter weekend. How cute is she!? I love having her close by.

Then Easter
The goods from Grammie's Egg Hunt

George's Mustache Bash! My BFF's little man turned 2 and they got to celebrate up here since it was on Easter weekend.

Last weekend I had a wedding and can now add a gluten-free, dairy-free, soy-free cake to my list of coordinator firsts. It did have fruit creams in the centers and tasted really good!

And, not to be forgotten, Simon can officially dress and undress himself without assistance! *applause*

This is definitely worth documenting. This is what would be known as a 'game changer' in the realm of motherhood accomplishments. One more step to independence, and less for me to have to do :)
However, that is a catch 22 since it also makes me want another baby to baby...
Don't go and spread rumors, though. We are thrilled with our two 'big' boys.

The Final chapter of Celebration Week: The Party

Jedi Training style

Death Star Cakes by Lauren Tallon

Cupcakes with Vader and Storm Trooper ring toppers

It took Simon until the end of the party when pretty much no one was watching to even get this close to Darth. He battled him like a true Jedi.

This party was so much fun. I'm pretty sure the adults had just as much fun with the characters as the kids did.

Happy birthday, Simon!
You could not be sweeter. Your obsession with puppies, and babies only makes the sweet compounded. Every time you see either you say, "Awwwwww, what a sweet puppy (or baby). I love puppies. I want 1,000 puppies." Every. Time.

Even though you have definitely hit the "3s" I can't imagine loving your more (though I could probably use more patience...). Somehow we thought you would be the quiet one, but you have definitely proved us wrong. You talk non-stop, still in your sweet little voice.
Your birthday always brings a mix of emotions: sad to see my baby growing so fast, but so excited and fun to see you grow at the same time.
Love you to pieces!

Happy 8th anniversary to us!

Sunday, April 06, 2014

My oldest baby turned 5 today. Don't anyone dare tell him I called him my baby.
This guy has grown up SO much over the last year. I could not be prouder of him. He is full of humor, he is has enthusiasm for all things, he is encouraging, and has a big heart.
In the past year he has began to discover a new sense of self, and self-confidence. I attribute a lot of this to his Pre-K (I ADORE Clyde Howell!!!!!). He impresses me every day.

The party will be with brother next week, so today we did a 5-piece scavenger hunt with a prize at each spot (all little things he has been asking for).

Contained a puzzle and new Spiderman socks

His own clock for his room

New Lego books

#5 - a big bike

Happy birthday, sweet boy. We  love you!

The Office Makeover

I am finally getting around to posting pics of the office makeover. This one happened long before the living room was finished and the bathroom. I just kept forgetting to post. So, here you go. Thank you for waiting so patiently right by your computer, refreshing, and refreshing the site, for a year and a half.

Here is the space when we viewed the house before purchase. It is made to be a dining room, but we needed an office more.
Once we moved in. This is our old *cheap* Walmart set up from the old house.
New light fixture from IKEA. (Thanks to Henson for documenting this moment.)

So, here is what it looks like now.
Love, love, love it.   We took off the nasty plastic blinds and added a window shade (thanks to the direction of Designs by MK Designs and Interiors)     The desk is from World Market, and the chair from IKEA.    The fabulous, grey Jute rug is from West Elm.

The mirror is my fav - from IKEA. The bookshelf if TOO Blu Dot by Target

Now I just need to get rid of that nasty paper organizer and get something cleaner.
Working on that.

The fabulous art stain my hubs made for me of Africa - part of my non-profit logo. This hangs on the right wall (unseen in above pic).
Wall opposite of the mirror - bookshelf & office storage from IKEA.
Close-up of the top of bookshelf. The picture frame is from IKEA, and houses my social media logo for my non-profit.
The little wooden elephant is a souvenier from my first mission trip to Ghana. The vase is a hand-made gift from some supporters of Heartbeat for Hope and the works in Ghana.

This is my space. I love the bright, inspiring room. Thank you to MK Designs for the original plan for the room, and for helping me get started!
